Scoring at a Glance
Each brand receives a score out of 10, built from seven weighted categories. The weights reflect what matters most to players over time. A site that pays out quickly and treats its customers fairly is worth more than one with a flashy lobby, so withdrawals and licence standing carry the most weight.
- Licence standing and operator transparency20%
- Withdrawals and payments20%
- Bonus terms and value15%
- Bingo games and rooms15%
- Safer gambling tools10%
- Customer support10%
- Mobile play and usability10%
The final score is the weighted total of those seven categories, converted to a mark out of 10 and rounded to one decimal place. Before any of that happens, though, a brand has to clear a basic licence check.
The Licence Gate
Scoring only starts once we have confirmed that a brand holds a valid UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence. We search the licence number from the site footer on the Gambling Commission public register and make sure the operator name, the account number and the trading name all match.
This step is pass or fail. A brand without a valid licence is not given a low score. It simply does not appear on SameBingo at all, however attractive its offers look.
Licence Standing and Operator Transparency (20%)
Holding a licence is the minimum. This category looks at what sits behind it, starting with the operator's record. We check the register for any conditions attached to the licence and look for enforcement action or regulatory settlements in recent years. A clean record scores well, while recent penalties for failings in safer gambling or anti-money laundering controls pull the score down.
We also look at how open the brand is about who runs it. The best sites name their operator clearly, link to their licence and explain which company is responsible for player funds. Brands that make this hard to find, or whose terms name a different company from the footer, lose marks here.
Withdrawals and Payments (20%)
This is the category that tells you whether a balance can actually become money in your bank account, so we test it with real money. We deposit using at least one debit card and one e-wallet where available, then request a withdrawal and time it from the moment we ask to the moment the funds arrive.
The score reflects what we experienced rather than what the site advertises. These are the factors we record:
- the real minimum deposit and minimum withdrawal for each method
- the length of any pending period before a withdrawal is processed
- total time from request to funds received
- any fees on deposits or withdrawals
- weekly or monthly withdrawal limits
- whether identity checks were requested at a reasonable point or used to delay payment
Fast payouts with no fees score highest. Long pending periods, withdrawal fees and repeated document requests after a withdrawal is made all reduce the score.
Bonus Terms and Value (15%)
We score bonuses on how fair and clear they are, not on how big the headline number looks. A modest offer with plain terms can easily outscore a much larger one that comes with restrictions buried deep in the small print.
Since 19 January 2026, UK rules cap wagering at 10 times the bonus amount and ban promotions that mix gambling products. Those rules have made offers simpler, but plenty of detail still varies, and that detail is what we read. We claim each welcome offer ourselves and check:
- the wagering requirement and whether it applies to the bonus alone or the deposit as well
- how long the bonus lasts before it expires
- any maximum bet allowed while bonus funds are in play
- any cap on what can be withdrawn from bonus winnings
- which bingo rooms or games the bonus can be used on
- who counts as a new customer across the operator's sister sites
No wagering offers score particularly well, because winnings are paid as cash from the start. Terms that contradict each other, or eligibility rules that only appear after you have deposited, count heavily against a brand.
Bingo Games and Rooms (15%)
A bingo site should be good at bingo, so this category looks at the rooms themselves. We play across the lobby and note the formats on offer, from traditional 90-ball and 75-ball games to faster variants. Ticket prices matter too, and sites with genuine penny bingo and low-cost rooms score better for value.
We also look at how lively the rooms feel. Active chat hosts, community games and a full schedule across the day and evening all add to the score. So do free bingo rooms for new players, provided the entry rules are clear and the prizes are paid as advertised.
Safer Gambling Tools (10%)
Every UKGC-licensed site has to offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. What we score is how easy those tools are to find and use. We set a deposit limit on each brand we test and record how many steps it takes, whether the site prompts players to set limits at sign-up, and whether reality checks and session reminders are available.
We also check that limits and exclusions behave as described across sister sites run by the same operator. Our Responsible Gambling page explains how these tools work for players and where to find free support.
Customer Support (10%)
We contact each site's support team at least twice. The first message is a routine question, such as how a bonus works. The second describes a problem, such as a delayed withdrawal, because the way a site handles a complaint says more than how it answers an easy question.
We record how quickly the team responds, whether the answer is accurate and whether the problem is actually resolved. Live chat with reasonable opening hours scores well. Slow email-only support, copied replies that ignore the question or answers that contradict the site's own terms lose marks.
Mobile Play and Usability (10%)
Most bingo is now played on a phone, so we test every brand on mobile as well as desktop. We check how quickly the site loads, how easy it is to buy tickets and follow a game on a small screen, and whether the cashier and account settings are simple to use.
A dedicated app can add to the score, but only if it works well. A smooth mobile site often beats a poorly maintained app. Clear navigation, readable bingo cards and a lobby that makes it easy to find the next game all count here.
Red Flags That Cap a Score
Some problems are serious enough that a strong performance elsewhere should not hide them. When we find one of the issues below, the brand's overall score is capped, whatever its other results:
- Withdrawal fees or unexplained delays cap the score at 6.0.
- Bonus terms that contradict each other or hide key restrictions cap the score at 6.0.
- Recent regulatory enforcement for safer gambling or anti-money laundering failings caps the score at 7.0.
- Missing or mismatched operator details between the footer, the terms and the register cap the score at 5.0.
The review always explains which red flag applied and why. If the operator fixes the problem, we retest and lift the cap once the change is confirmed.
Score Bands
A score is easier to read with some context. These bands describe what each range means in practice:
- 9.0 – 10Outstanding. Strong across every category with no significant weaknesses.
- 8.0 – 8.9Very good. A reliable choice with minor drawbacks.
- 7.0 – 7.9Good. Solid overall, with one or two areas worth checking before you join.
- 5.0 – 6.9Average. Usable, but with clear weaknesses or a red flag.
- Below 5.0Poor. Significant problems that most players are better off avoiding.
We publish low scores as openly as high ones. A brand that scores poorly stays listed with its findings, because knowing which sites to avoid is just as useful as knowing which ones to join.
From Scores to Rankings
Our main lists are ordered by overall score. When two brands score the same, the one with the stronger withdrawal result ranks higher. Some lists focus on a single need, such as low deposit sites or no wagering offers. Those lists still use the overall score, but they only include brands that meet the list's criteria.
Commission plays no part in any of this. Operators cannot pay for a higher position, a better score or the removal of a red flag, and none of them sees a review before it is published.
Sister Site and Network Data
The connections we publish between brands are not part of the score. They are facts, and we treat them as facts to be verified rather than opinions to be rated. For every brand, we confirm the operator against the UKGC register and identify the platform from the site's own terms and footer before listing any sister sites.
When a connection cannot be confirmed from a reliable source, we leave it out rather than guess. Bingo brands switch networks and change owners regularly, so we recheck these details every time a brand is retested.
Retesting and Score Changes
Every review shows the date of its last full test. We retest a brand whenever its licence status changes, its welcome offer changes, its withdrawal times shift noticeably or readers report problems that contradict our findings. Even without a trigger, we aim to retest established brands at least once every six months.
When a score changes, the review notes what changed and why. Scores reflect our findings on the test date, and terms can change at any time, so it is worth checking the live terms on the operator's site before you deposit. More about who we are and the standards behind our reviews is on our About Us page.
